Acoustic Architecture: A Musical Exploration of our Local Heritage

IMG_0458St. George’s, Bloomsbury, a stunning Hawkesmoor church in Holborn has an awesome 4.2 second acoustic boom. This means that music and sounds fill, bounce, flow and interact throughout the building in a truly inspiring fashion. In this unique and exciting project, St. George’s becomes the setting for a unique celebration of acoustics and architecture. Combining the Music, Religious Education, History and Science curriculums, we will work with your students to understand what sound is and experience it in action by creating new music especially for the booming acoustic of the church.

As well as enriching the current school curriculum, Soundcastle education projects promote interpersonal and social skills through a creative process. Team building, creative thinking and leadership skills are key elements in the students’ artistic journey.

Soundcastle_0037“Once again, Soundcastle have delivered a top class project with my year 4 children. Their stunning musicianship and excellent teaching skills helped the children to produce an unforgettable performance in St George’s Church Bloomsbury. The Acoustic Architecture project covers many aspects of our curriculum including music, history, geography, religious education and science. The children were so proud of their achievements and are still buzzing about it now. I am looking forward to the next opportunity to work with Soundcastle.”  Sarah Lawson, St. Clement Danes School
